? A company that guarantees a products safety establishes important consumer credibility. Labeling needs to be easily understood and should include age grading and valuable information. Kids toys should be technically well produced.

? There are toys that can help children understand new concept or develop new skills. Your Child is understanding of wildlife, science or the environment can be enriched. Toys which encourage and support physical activity and development contribute to a childs health and growth. Consider if the toy is innovative and original. Educational Toys – Our Partners in Raising Smarter Babies

Every eight seconds, more and more babies are being born all over the world. Every minute, more and more parents are thinking of ways to make their children the best among the rest. These parents are more likely to explore the whole world just to be able to give everything to their kids to make them grow smarter and wiser. They believe that educational toys are absolutely their partners in raising smarter babies. Hence, most, if not all, these parents will look for every educational toy they can grab in the market today.

But what makes an educational toy different from an ordinary toy? Essentially, these toys, just like other toys, are simply invented for and to be used by children. Any person can argue that an educational toy is in fact any toy. The only difference they have is how the children perceive these toys or the reality of their significance.

Ideally, an educational toy, which is believe to be our partners in raising smarter babies advances intellectuality and imagination, and promotes the emotional, physical, and social development of children. These toys pave ways to faster learning of children with new skills. Therefore, what really makes this toy different from other usual toys is the child’s learning and development associated with playing with them.

Simple wooden blocks are actually a good start for preschool children to instigate learning the elementary principles of science and causal relationships, as well as patience and basic hand-eye coordination. Elementary children can be encouraged to play with interlocking manipulative toys like Legos or puzzles to further improve their mind-body coordination, virtue of patience, and appreciation of spatial relationships.

All educators hold the same opinion that is, the most effective, most natural, and the best method of educating children is through play. Among the most important elements in teaching children are educational toys, developmental games, and learning materials. But there are really no rules in deciding the right choice of toys and games for your children. You can try experimenting from simple books and educational toys moving gradually to more intricate educational games, science activities, and puzzles.

If there is actually a rule, it can only be one that is, to go after your child’s interests. You can tag along your kid’s interests be it play dough clays or electronic keyboard or pirate games as you will never go wrong with these. For sure, they will inspire your children’s imagination, senses, and cleverness. Let them express themselves either through academic subjects (i.e., music, art, history, language) or sports (i.e., ball games, skating, ballet).

There are indeed so many ways to raise our children to be smarter and wiser people. We have all kinds of educational toys available in the market. We just have to know well what are outside there and learn how to listen and support our children’s interests. We can give them heaps of educational toys but if the child has no interest, then it cannot serve its function to educate the child.

Make sure you will introduce your children to variety of educational toys and when they already choose one or two, you just have to guide them along the way. Remember, these educational toys are just our partners in raising smarter babies but they are not the sole key to success. As the saying goes, Nine tenths of education is Encouragement. Parents as well as educators just have to make these children realize that learning is not so boring after all, but rather a fun development of themselves.

Storage Shelving for your Children’s Toys

When the bedroom or toy room gets out of whack and always seems to be a disaster area, you need to start thinking about toy compartments. Sometimes a mess in a room is the result of not having anywhere to put toys and books. When contemplating of toy space, the simple idea of a toy box comes to mind. There are hundreds to choose from, and it is often a matter of personal choice. If your child has a preferred character or show, you can usually find a toy box with that theme.

Some toy boxes for toy boxes are easier to use than other people. Keep your childs age and ability in mind when purchasing. Also remember to examine things like lids that fall quickly, or hinges that may pinch little fingers. Another option for toy compartments is a bookshelf. The shelves on the bookshelf are decent for placing tinier toys so they are up and off the ground. This is also a viable way for your children to store their toys. They will have a basic time discovering what they are searching for at any given moment. For a customized touch, ask the carpenter in your life to build something for toy boxes. They may built you a simply toy box, or come up with their own unusual idea for dealing with toy cellars. A handmade toy package can be a magnificent keepsake that will last a lifetime.

Some stores offer a various type of toy space that you may find will help keep small toys and pieces from getting displaced or stepped on. There are some toy storage units that have buckets or baskets. These can be used for Legos, puzzles, crayons, and other small and easy to lose objects. For a basic alternative to buying more costly toy compartments units, you can go to a discount store and buy rubber bins. These are superior as stand-in toy boxes, or can be used for long-term toy storage. They only come in a couple colors, but are generally big and durable. Along the same terms, there are rubber bins that are short and long. These can easily slide under a bed and can be viable for toy cellars. This is always a superior way to save keepsakes, store shoes, or seasonal clothing.

If you keep buying items for toy space and the mess remains, you might want to consider that you child just has too many toys. This can be solved by putting some of the toys away in a toy storage unit, and then by storing that unit in a closet or basement. Occasionally switch stored toys with ones that have been just recently been used. This rotation of toys helps keep them in touch in what they have, rather than what they want.

Educational Toys – How They Evolved

The modern day busy parent tries to compensate for his or her lack of time for his or her children by investing a great deal on education. Thus, it is not a surprise how many of such parents move mountains just to provide their kids entertaining products that not only encourage play, but also instill discovery and learning.

Makers of toys worldwide recognize this growing trend and are, consequently, coming up with new and improved lines of children’s educational toys and games almost every month. What was once limited only to specialty toy and game shops, educational toys and games are now a staple in every children’s oriented stores around the world, even at general mass retailers, like Wal-Mart and K-Mart.

Statistics show that the sales of toys and games have declined over the years. However, educational toys have been on the rise, as more parents opt to purchase products that would give them the most value for their money, as compared to, say, buying Bratz dolls and Hot Wheels.

The record for educational toys was broken in the Holiday season of the year 2000, when toy maker LeapFrog’s LeapPad Learning System electronic reading toy became the bestselling children’s game of the time, helping the company boost its sales by a whopping 120 per cent!

LeapFrog’s success paved the way for other major and small toy makers to come up with educational toys of their own. Jakks Pacific, under its Child Guidance brand, released its own line of children’s educational toys and games following a deal with Baby Genius. Hasbro released its Baby Einstein line and unveiled its preschool units, namely the Baby Einstein Company and Playskool. These new toys encouraged children to dabble in art, music, different foreign and local languages, and even poetry.

The strong demand for educational toys and games for children has urged major retailers, like Toys “R” Us, to allocate shelves upon shelves for these kinds of toys. And because more and more households are transforming into two-income families, it is likely that the demand will grow further as parents seek products that would try to fill their absence during their children’s formative learning years.

With the rise in demand, it won’t be a surprise when the price tag that comes with these educational toys and games will also decrease as the years pass. Right now, these kinds of toys are still a little expensive (though it hasn’t stopped most parents from buying them). In the future, due to the overwhelming interest, educational toys and games will be accessible to everyone.

Why Wooden Toys Are Better Than Plastic Toys For Children

Are wooden toys betters than plastic? In order to answer this question we would need to define ‘better’. I have to admit to being biased towards wood so I’ve been pondering why this is the case.

When it comes to your children, nothing’s too good for them, although some things are certainly too good to be true. These days, literally well over 99 percent of the toys offered for sale to your children are made of plastic and metal. Natural wood toys are nearly non-existent. That’s sad really. They’re an important part of our heritage and culture, and chances are they’re safer than plastic toys as well.

How many times have we been told that a plastic or painted toy is safe, only to see it recalled or find out it has lead in the paint or plastic body or is unsafe for any number of other reasons? This holds especially true for very small children and babies. These little ones will be putting whatever they play with in their mouths, and plastics, painted toys and metals probably aren’t high on the list of things you want in your baby’s mouth.

If we are considering the environment and the ultimate destination for many toys (which is landfill) then wood is clearly the better material. If we are thinking about robustness and the resilience of the material to the treatment that toys receive at the hands of their owners then both materials can perform well, depending upon the toy.

When it comes to plastic toys and wooden toys, there is more of a chance that plastic toys will be purchased. However, consumers don’t seem to consider buying a wooden toy for their kid instead. In a few ways, it would be more worth the while to get.

Let’s think of a few differences between the two. Plastic toys: they can break easily and the edges could harm the little children. Wooden toys, on the other hand, are more durable. If you were to stand on a toy truck made of plastic, there is a great chance that it will break, possibly leaving sharp edges that could cut your child; and be fit only for the rubbish.

Wooden toys on the other hand encourage your kids to use their creativity, when either they make the toys themselves or play with them. Simple activities such as making cookies at their own toy kitchen, or riding a wooden Arabian horse and so on, boost a child’s creativity and visualization.

You probably wonder why parents opt to offer their children the common wooden type of toys instead of the cheaper plastic toys commonly produced in China. Many consider that having plastic toys is more practical than wooden toys because of the cost factor. Although plastic toys are cheaper compared to wooden toys, long term consideration proves that the latter is better than the former.

Wood is a natural made material which can be subjected to recycling. This means that aside from providing entertainment for your child, you can also pro actively help in preventing further degradation of the environment. Moreover, children appear to be more attached to playing with wooden toys.

Play is an essential part of a child’s learning and emotional development. Wooden toys are a sensible choice for the very young. Children’s wooden toys include toys such as miniature farm animals sets for infants and doll houses for young girls and boys. Many wooden toys are also educational toys for young school children, such as puzzles, building blocks, and more.

Wooden toys are also more durable than their plastic or metal counterparts. Thus with proper care, it is possible to make these toys last a child’s entire childhood and maybe even hand them down to their children.

How are wooden toys invented? Wooden toys are invented because wood is the only easily available materials where one can make toys from with simple tools. Sad to speak, it’s hard to find wooden toys in toy stores these days.

Online toy stores offer a wide variety of wooden toys to choose from. And sometimes, it’s easier to find what you want because modern toy stores these days mostly sell plastic toys.

Have you ever seen a child in a room full of the latest toys and found the child to be playing with old fashioned children’s wooden toys that were a big hit when you were young? What is it about this sight that is so comforting? Is it because the child’s wooden toy makes us feel nostalgic or is there something else at play here? In our world of plastic throw-away goods it is comforting to see lasting goods lasting. It is especially comforting to see goods which are felt to be worthy enough to be passed on from generation to generation. The latest gadget on the latest toy has not made traditional children’s wooden toys any less desirable to children, or even to adults for that matter.

Children’s wooden toys are toys which are made using a natural product as opposed to a product like plastic which is a product that we are trying to recycle but nevertheless remains a product which costs less to produce new than to recycle. If a child’s wooden toy is made from a sustainable forest that’s even better as it is actually helping out our troubled environment. This is only one of the reasons we feel better towards wood than towards plastic. There are also many emotional reasons why wooden toys feel better.

To touch and explore is often considered as one of the most important aspects of most educational programs that help a child develop different capabilities. Letting your kids play with wooden toys would unmistakably encourage them to learn by touching and exploring. Moreover, you could even purchase wooden toys and games specially meant to educate the kids.

Plastic toys come in all shapes and sizes so there are bound to be lots of brightly coloured playthings that attract the attention of your child, no matter how old they are. They are durable, washable and usually pretty safe, but as with all toys there are toy safety checks to watch out for when you are buying the perfect toy for your child.

The most important toy safety check for all toys, including plastic toys, is that they have the appropriate safety marks. Although the CE Mark is not in fact a consumer symbol, it does mean that the toy you are looking for will have passed stringent safety tests and conform with a list of essential safety requirements. If any plastic toys that you are thinking of buying don’t have the CE Mark, you should avoid them because you can’t be sure whether they will be safe for your child to play with.

Andrew Bailey

Should childrens toys be made in the USA?

Because of safety factors (lead paint, etc.) and stricter guidelines should childrens toys be made in the USA?
It sounds to me that most of you would rather harm your children than create more jobs here and make products that would have to follow stricter guidelines.

If that turns out to the case then you can expect to pay alot more for toys. That’s why big manufacturers import, because it’s cheaper to use foreign labour which they figure helps them make more money in the long run.

What they need to do is have more strict standards and more people monitoring and investigating the production process of thier products before and after they leave the foreign country and before they hit stores.

Childrens TOys/Games?

Im writing a paper for my child development class and we have to write it on a good educational toy/game for toodlers and preschoolers. I was wondering what are some toys/games i could write my paper on?

Along with vsmile, what about leapfrog? Perhaps explore the advantages and disadvantages technology has on educational toys. (Do kids really learn better using technology or are they suffering from less human interaction because of it?)

I love the leapfrog toys because it does make learning fun and I can see benefit to my kiddos, but it comes with human interaction in our house.

When I was just starting out my daycare, I was told that the best toys or activities that any house can have are: blocks, lincoln logs, legos (or duplos), the tupperwarse shape sorter ball toy, puzles, tangrams, and things without batteries. Sadly, when many children come to me in my daycare and discover that my toys don’t make noise, they are a bit lost at first. I see them exploring the blocks and puzzles and when their parents see this, sometimes they are amazed that their child loves the blocks so much. Most of the kids in my daycare through the years don’t own blocks at home!

I use the leapfrog and v.smile with my children to supplement our homeschool and all, but I love toys that make a child think, imagine and create.

Good luck on your paper. Neat question!

What are some ideas of toys/games I can get my children that would help with reading, writing and math?

I am looking for educational toys/games that are appropriate for a 6 year old and a 4 year old.

Leapfrog is the best that I know of. My sister has two very smart boys and they just love playing with this stuff.

Could you sell childrens wooden toys?

What are the best learning toys for children?

I have a 9 mo old daughter and a 2 year old son who isn’t speaking yet. He has poor cognitive skills due to having crossed eyes since birth and has had surgeries to correct them and still more to come. He will be seeing a speech and child development therapist next month. Each having different abilities, my daughter is showing signs of catching on earlier than my son did, yet that may be cause her eyes are not crossed. I was just wondering, what are the best learning toys out there that are the appropriate age for my two children?
I didn’t say his speaking has anything to do with his eyes, yet his dr said it might, seeing how he couldn’t even see our face to watch us say the words we’ve been trying to teach him. Got him evaluated by SoonerStart and he is at the learning level of an 11 mo old so anything we do or try could help. He does have the house one of you mentioned. He has tons of toys, just doesn’t seem interested in most. Dr said he just may not see them that well. Is more interested in trucks and things with wheels. Won’t let me read to him because he can’t see the pictures, or at least shows no interest in them. Thanks though for all your answers.

Visual impairments may contribute to speech delays, but usually they are severe impairments. The doctors would know best on that one. As one person wrote, the old fashioned toys are best. Blocks are open ended and inspire a child’s imagination. My son, who also has a speech delay and one eye that wonders in (and will need surgery), his wooden train set is his favorite. I have a blog reviewing natural, developmentally appropriate toys:

http://www.ecochildsplay.com

Reading to your child is the most important thing you can do. Keep reading, even if he doesn’t show interest. You can read to him while he plays. Telling him stories is a great activity too, that may lead to books. Also, talk to him all the time! Speak constantly about what you are doing so that he hears language and can build his receptive vocabulary. How is his hearing? Good luck with your little ones!
